Yakutia's Prisoners Showcase Skills in Annual Ice Sculpture Competition
Inmates across Yakutia's penal institutions have begun preparing for their annual ice and snow sculpture competition. As the first snow falls, prisoners start sketching designs and planning layouts for their entries.
The competition, held annually among the Republic of Yakutia's correctional facilities, saw Corrective Colony No. 1 emerge victorious, securing the 1st place. Close behind were Corrective Colony No. 5 in 2nd place and Corrective Colony No. 6 in 3rd place. The winning sculptures showcased traditional themes, including figures reminiscent of childhood and home, as well as animal figures symbolising the year according to the Eastern calendar.
The name of the head of Corrective Colony No. 1, who led their team to victory, remains unknown to the public.
The ice and snow sculpture competition among Yakutia's penal institutions concluded with Corrective Colony No. 1 taking the top spot. The event provided inmates with an opportunity to express their creativity and skill, fostering a sense of pride and accomplishment within the participating colonies.
