Wiesbaden's Anticipated Photography Event Scheduled for 2025
Prepare to immerse yourself in the world of photography and video art as the 13th edition of the Wiesbaden Photo Days, one of Germany's oldest continuous photography festivals, returns from August 23 to September 7, 2025. This year's theme, "The Future? What Future?", promises a thought-provoking exploration of the industry's future and its potential.
The festival will feature an impressive lineup of 38 photo and video projects across seven main exhibitions, showcasing a diverse range of perspectives and styles. The heart of the event will be at Kunstverein Bellevue-Saal and Künstlerverein Walkmühle, where visitors can engage in a day of dialogue with artists on August 24th. This unique opportunity allows participants to converse with the artistic directors and artists themselves, fostering a deeper understanding of their work and the themes they address.
Kunsthaus will host an exhibition focused on the festival's theme, providing a platform for artists to share their insights and visions of the future. In addition, workshops are planned for the last weekend in August, offering hands-on sessions on various techniques such as staging images, photograms, lumen printing, photo cartography, and more.
The event will also include guided tours, films, a lecture by Lena Papasabbas from "The Future:Project", and a panel discussion in cooperation with "The Image Section" of the German Society of Photography (DGPh). The panel discussion will delve into the festival's theme, providing a forum for thoughtful discourse and reflection.
Several artists have already confirmed their presence for the 13th edition of the Wiesbaden Photo Days, including Tobias Kruse, Gosbert Gottmann, and Maartje Martis, whose works will be on display at Kunstverein Bellevue-Saal during Wiesbaden Fototage.
The Wiesbaden Photo Days were first launched in 2002 and have since become a significant fixture in the photography calendar. This year's event will be hosted by Kunstverein Bellevue-Saal from August 24 to September 7, with the opening ceremony taking place at Walkmühle artist association on August 23rd at 19.00. The opening weekend will feature a festive opening and the presentation of "The Jury's Prize".
