Wiesbaden rejoices in festivities
Wiesbaden, the vibrant city in Germany, has taken a significant step in enhancing the safety and security of its popular events. The city has invested around 2.8 million euros in expanded access protection for municipal events, with the Rheingau Wine Week serving as a pioneer in event safety.
According to Building and Traffic Commissioner Andreas Kowol, modern risk prevention and quality of life on public squares are not opposites. He emphasized that the new access protection measures are a visible sign of cleverly developed security measures. The new barriers, designed to open up possibilities, are not just physical barriers but provide opportunities for technology to create a safer environment.
The city has acquired 30 Octabloque TRs, 60 Armis One, and 150 Armis Go barrier systems for its new security concept. Among these, Wiesbaden is the first municipality in Germany to have the Armis Go barrier material, a market novelty introduced in June 2025. This system currently has the lowest certified penetration depth as a single system, ensuring effective protection.
Ordnungsdezernentin Maral Koohestanian highlighted that these new measures are integral to the city's commitment to providing a secure and enjoyable experience for all event participants. She added that the new access barriers provide the city police with the necessary security to perform their duties reliably and responsively on-site.
The Rheingau Wine Week, a staple of regional wine culture, is not just a place for people to meet but also a platform for showcasing innovative safety measures. The event took centre stage on August 11, at the Schlossplatz, where several officials presented the new access protection measures.
Aesthetic compatibility played a significant role in the selection process for the new access barriers. The barriers blend seamlessly into the event ambience, ensuring that inner-city event areas remain vibrant places.
While specific details about the new measures were not provided, emerging best practices in event safety suggest the incorporation of advanced crowd monitoring technologies, enhanced security checkpoints, coordinated emergency response protocols, contactless access systems, and integration of mobile apps or digital platforms.
For detailed or official descriptions of the newly implemented safety measures at the Rheingau Wine Week, it is recommended to consult the event's official website or recent press releases from Wiesbaden city authorities or the organizers. The Press Office of the State Capital Wiesbaden published this press release, and the responsible department or office can be contacted by citizens with any questions.
