Truth be told, I swear by daily cleaning routines. They help me keep my home tidy, but sometimes, deeper cleaning is needed. So, when winter starts to retreat and I know spring is on the way, I pull out my spring cleaning checklist to freshen up my entire house (usually within a week).

However, this year, I've decided to spread out my cleaning tasks over shorter periods and turn it into a challenge to combat boredom and minimize cleaning anxiety. After completing my 7-day kitchen deep cleaning challenge, I'm diving into the bathroom for this week's challenge. Join me, and let's make spring cleaning manageable and stress-free!

Below, you'll find guidelines on organizing your bathroom deep cleaning challenge along with helpful tips and a free printable checklist.

Bathroom deep cleaning challenge

Day 1: Declutter and Organize

  • Remove any unnecessary items and stash them away.
  • Organize bathroom cabinets and drawers with remaining items.
  • Put items back on counters once they're clean and organized.

Day 2: Shine those Mirrors & Windows

  • Clean bathroom mirrors, removing all smudges and streaks.
  • Wash and clean windows (if applicable) and window sills.
  • Dust windows blinds or wipe down window shades.

💡 For an eco-friendly cleaning solution, try this DIY glass cleaner: Mix equal parts water and white vinegar in a spray bottle, and voilà!

Day 3: Deep Clean the Toilet

  • Spray toilet cleaner and let it sit while cleaning other areas.
  • Disinfect all surfaces outside the toilet, including the lid, seat, and base.
  • Scrub the inside of the toilet bowl with a toilet brush.

💡 For streak-free shiny fixtures, use vinegar as a multipurpose cleaner.

Day 4: Scrub the Tub & Shower

  • Remove all shower accessories and clean them separately.
  • Sprinkle baking soda inside the tub or shower and spray with a mixture of vinegar and dish soap (in a spray bottle). Let it sit for a few minutes before scrubbing.
  • Wipe down the shower door, handles, and faucet.

💡 Don't forget to descale your showerhead regularly for optimum water pressure.

Day 5: Final Touches & Disinfecting

  • Disinfect the sink, countertops, and other high-touch surfaces.
  • Wipe down the bathtub or shower walls, and clean any soap scum or mildew.
  • Put everything back in its place, and enjoy your sparkling clean bathroom!
