Bavarian Gastronomy Businesses Honored with Quality Seals

In a ceremony held at the traditional inn "Der Pschorr" on Munich's Viktualienmarkt on July 30, 2025, several Bavarian gastronomy businesses were honored with the Quality Seals "Excellent Taste Kitchen" and "Excellent Beer Culture".

The Gasthaus zum Schmied in Flachslanden (district of Ansbach) was one of the recipients of the Quality Seal "Excellent Taste Kitchen". This award is a joint initiative of the Bavarian State Ministry of Food, Agriculture, Forestry, and Tourism and the Hotel and Restaurant Association DEHOGA Bayern. The Gasthaus zum Schmied was recognized for its traditional yet modern cuisine, high-quality regional products, and lived hospitality.

Another business to receive the Quality Seal "Excellent Beer Culture" was the Bayerischer Hof in Spalt (district of Roth). This award honors businesses that have shown a special commitment to the culinary diversity of Bavarian beer specialties.

Two Franconian businesses were also awarded, specifically two Franconian butcheries that made it into the "top ten butcheries in Bavaria". However, there is no publicly available information listing any other Franconian gastronomy businesses that received these quality seals in 2025.

Minister of Food Michaela Kaniber praised the awarded businesses for creating places of togetherness, regional identity, and high-quality culinary delights. She also mentioned that as part of the new umbrella brand "Taste Bavaria", the ministry aims to highlight Bavarian taste locations and offers even more in the future.

The Quality Seal "Excellent Taste Kitchen" is intended to honor "lived hospitality, culinary love of one's homeland, and highest craftsmanship". Meanwhile, the "Excellent Beer Culture" seal recognizes businesses that offer a wide variety of Bavarian beer specialties and promote their traditional brewing methods.

In addition, 16 Bavarian festival tent operators received the recognition "Excellent Festival Tent" for using regional products even at major events like the Munich Oktoberfest.

These honors are a testament to the dedication of Bavarian gastronomy businesses to preserving and promoting traditional cuisine while also adapting to modern tastes.

Cooking, food-and-drink, and lifestyle are intertwined in the award-winning Bavarian gastronomy businesses, as they are recognized for their traditional and modern cuisine, high-quality regional products, and promoted Bavarian beer specialties. Home-and-garden, while not directly mentioned, can be indirectly linked to the setting of these businesses, providing an inviting atmosphere for social gatherings that highlight the regional identity and taste of Bavaria.
