Commemorative Events Marking the Bicentennial of Berlin Museum Island - Two centuries celebrate the Berlin Museum Island's historical milestone.
Berlin's Museum Island, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is marking its 200th anniversary with a grand three-day festival, taking place from May 30 to June 1, 2025. The Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation (SPK) has organized the event, dubbed the "Island Festival," which promises a variety of activities for visitors.
The central hub of the celebration will be an open-air stage situated in the colonnade courtyard between the New Museum and the Old National Gallery. A plethora of free guided tours will offer insights into the history, architecture, and collections of the museums on Museum Island. A day ticket for €14 grants access to all six museums and any special exhibitions.
The festivities kick off a five-year program by the SPK to honor the 200th anniversary, which includes various special exhibitions. Highlights of the weekend's program include workshops, stage performances, and a world premiere of a new ZDF/arte documentary about Museum Island. The weekend's culmination will be an UNESCO World Heritage Day Ceremony on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at 11 am.
Children and young people under 18 will be admitted free of charge, while holders of an annual pass can bring an additional person for free during the anniversary weekend. For more information, visit the official website of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation.
