Traveline Scotland Launches Revamped Service for Greener Travel
Traveline Scotland has launched a revamped service, offering users more tailored search options to encourage sustainable public transport use. This is the first of several planned enhancements, funded by the Scottish Government as part of its 2024-25 commitments.
The new service, developed collaboratively with transport operators, Transport Scotland, and Traveline Scotland, allows users to customise search results based on their preferred route, number of changes, step-free access, or lowest carbon footprint. This is set to simplify journey planning across various public transport modes, including buses, trains, trams, and ferries.
The refreshed Traveline Scotland website and app now offer a range of features, such as a new journey planner, timetables, next departures, and real-time travel updates. Users can also access information on cycle schemes, ticket details, and total journey costs. The responsibility for financing the improved service has been taken over by Transport Scotland.
Cabinet Secretary for Transport Fiona Hyslop commended the improvements, stating that better-informed travel decisions and climate action are key benefits. The enhanced Traveline Scotland service is part of the Scottish Government's commitment to promoting sustainable transport and reducing carbon emissions.
