In the charming town of Kaarst, Germany, a heartwarming tradition continues as the annual Wish Tree action returns for its 16th year. This community-driven project, managed voluntarily by the Gaspers family, aims to bring a touch of magic and joy to those in need this festive season.

Mayor Ursula Baum has expressed her hope for a bountiful response, as the tree is adorned with wishes from all walks of life. Initially, only children's wishes hung on the tree, but in recent years, adult wishes have also been included, ensuring that everyone has an opportunity to experience the joy of giving.

Reading the wish cards can often reveal very modest wishes, a testament to the resilience and humility of those involved. Adult wishes often come from elderly people or those unable to work due to impairment, underscoring the importance of this initiative in providing a little extra cheer during the holiday season.

The city of Kaarst wholeheartedly supports this initiative, and further information can be obtained from Sigrid Hecker, who can be reached at Tel. 02131 / 98 75 22 or via email at [email protected].

The Protestant and Catholic churches in Kaarst also participate in the Wish Tree action, demonstrating the community's collective commitment to supporting one another. Since 2021, the "Kaarster help" association has joined forces with the Wish Tree initiative, replacing the previous shoebox action.

Gifts for the Wish Tree action can be delivered at the town hall on specific dates: Friday, December 8, 2-5 pm, Thursday, December 14, 5-7 pm, and Saturday, December 16, 10 am-2 pm. The gifts, beautifully wrapped, will be distributed to recipients, bringing joy to their faces at the festival.

For those who wish to participate in this meaningful tradition, the Wish Tree action offers a unique opportunity to make a difference in someone's life this Christmas. Let's join together in spreading hope, kindness, and joy in our community.
