Thriving Landscape in the Aftermath of Seismic Regions: Marche
The "Made in Piceno - Well-being and Quality of Life" project, an initiative under the regional three-year program of the Marche region, is spearheading the regeneration and revitalization of Marche areas impacted by earthquakes, with a specific focus on the provinces of Ascoli Piceno, Fermo, and Macerata.
This ambitious project aims to improve the quality of life and promote well-being for residents in these earthquake-impacted zones by leveraging local resources, cultural identity, and sustainable development principles. The Mountain River Basin Authority of the Tronto is responsible for coordinating the project.
The project adopts a holistic approach, promoting well-being and inclusion, particularly among vulnerable or affected populations. This involves integrated social, cultural, and economic activities designed to rebuild communities and help reacquire a sense of normalcy and identity.
Another key aspect of the project's approach is supporting regeneration through local production, culture, and sports, which act as pillars for social cohesion and economic revival. The BIM Tronto, comprising 17 municipalities of the Marche Region, is committed to this project.
The project also targets infrastructure and environmental sustainability as part of a broader territorial regeneration, addressing the physical and social consequences of the seismic events. The Mountain Community of the Blue Mountains will work in synergy with the Mountain River Basin Authority of the Tronto on this front.
The project particularly focuses on the hilly and mountainous inland municipalities, and the involved municipalities, local producers of the Made in Piceno network, cultural and social associations of the territory, accommodation structures, and tourist realities will be part of the project.
The BIM Tronto aims to favour economic and social progress, support tourism, and encourage local artisanal productions. The project will create a network of experiential paths promoting healthy eating and a healthy lifestyle, starting from kindergartens, and linking products, territories, culture, traditions, and historical memory.
The BIM Tronto will also create and put into place the territorial supply chains and care for the qualification and specialization of local labor. The project has a financial availability of 230,000 euros, and the Mountain River Basin Authority of the Tronto has expressed its availability to co-finance the project with its own additional resources.
