Thirty guided excursions through the woodlands of Lübeck

Lübeck, Germany - August 7, 2025 marked the presentation of the "Discover Lübeck's Forests!" guide, a comprehensive forest nature guide developed by BUND Lübeck. The guide, co-created by Ulrike Schröder and Reinhard Degener, invites the population to experience nature on 30 hiking tours through the Lübeck city forest, as well as hiking routes in the city area, Lauenburg, East Holstein, and a 54-kilometer long stage hike "Around Lübeck" in five stages. Additionally, four cycling tours are included in the guide.

Hannes Napp, head of the city forest department, and Reinhard Degener from BUND explained the project's background. The forest management concept used in Lübeck is made tangible through the guide, providing extensive information about the development of the Lübeck forests and the internationally recognized forest management concept.

Special marking signs have been implemented to make it easier to find the routes. Information boards are currently being set up at the starting points of the tours, offering a wealth of nature facts about the Lübeck forests.

The Lübeck Sparkassen Foundation contributed to the implementation of the guide. Hannes Napp highlighted the value of the Lübeck forests and the importance of protecting them, emphasizing the guide's role in promoting eco-friendly exploration of the city's natural surroundings.

Reinhard Degener reiterated these sentiments, stating, "The Lübeck forests are a precious resource that deserves our protection and appreciation. This guide is a great tool for the people of Lübeck to connect with nature and understand the importance of sustainable forest management."

For those seeking a more in-depth understanding of Lübeck's forest management practices, local forestry office websites or specialized regional hiking guides would be the most authoritative sources. While search results provide information about hiking around Lübeck and outdoor exploration, specific details about Lübeck's forest management concept are not extensively covered.

With the release of the second edition of the guide, Lübeck residents and visitors alike now have a valuable resource for exploring the city's forests in a sustainable and informative manner. The "Discover Lübeck's Forests!" guide is a testament to the commitment to environmental conservation and education in Lübeck.
