Supermarket Chain Lidl Offers Complimentary Produce and Crisp Packs through Simple Hack for Everyone

In the midst of soaring food prices, British supermarket chain Lidl is providing a welcome relief for its customers. The discount retailer is offering free vegetables and multi-pack crisps to shoppers, offering a significant saving during the holiday season.

The free offer, which varies depending on the item, is available through the Lidl Plus app. One savvy shopper shared an image of their receipt on Facebook, demonstrating the free items they received. Another customer noted that the free offer could be either fruit or vegetables, depending on what's available.

Lidl's free offer comes as food prices have surged for the fifth consecutive month, reaching a new 20-month high. The most dramatic increase is on beef and veal, which has surged by 24.9%. Dairy staples have also become more expensive, with the price of butter jumping by 18.9% and whole milk up 12.6%. Pork has seen its cost climb by 8.2%.

Even treats have been affected, with both coffee and chocolate rising by 15.4%. However, for those shopping at Lidl, these free items could provide a much-needed respite.

Lidl offers various discounts to its customers. For instance, spending £10 in a month earns a free in-store bakery sweet treat. Spending £250 gets a 10% discount. The Lidl Plus app also includes Coupon Plus and in-app rewards.

To claim the free items, customers must first download the app, link their preferred store, activate the coupon, and fulfill any required conditions to receive the discount. This applies only in participating markets. Customers should scan the free items first before scanning the rest of their shopping. The free items are valid on giant bags of potatoes and family 30-bag crisps.

It's important to note that if customers scan the free items last, they will not be able to take off the "cheapest item free" discount. Multiple Lidl shoppers have confirmed they have received the free items in the past.

As the countdown to Christmas begins, the cost of food and non-alcoholic drinks has shot up to 5.1% in August. The free offer from Lidl could be a significant saving for many families during the holiday season.
