Street on Kolberger has been emptied
In the heart of Nordhorn, the city has announced the reopening of Kolberger Straße following a successful construction project that took place over the past year. The investment for this project was approximately 1.3 million euros, as confirmed by the City of Nordhorn.
The construction work was led by the city's public works department (Stadt Nordhorn, Tiefbauamt), with the company Beton- und Monierbau from Nordhorn carrying out the actual work. The project involved several parties, including construction companies, the city of Nordhorn, and the residents.
The reopening ceremony was attended by Mayor Thomas Berling, several council members, City Building Director Milena Schauer, representatives of the construction companies, the city of Nordhorn, and the residents. The event marked the end of a one-year construction period.
One of the key improvements made to Kolberger Straße is the upgrade of the two bus stops along the street. These have been made barrier-free and equipped with waiting shelters with roofing. The upgrade was funded by the Landesverkehrsgesellschaft Niedersachsen mbH and the Landkreis Grafschaft Bentheim.
The newly laid sidewalks along Kolberger Straße are now 2.00 to 2.20 meters wide, providing ample space for pedestrians. To prevent flooding during heavy rain and relieve the sewer system, the sidewalks feature permeable paving.
In addition to these improvements, six trees have been planted along Kolberger Straße, compared to the previous two. This increase in greenery is expected to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the street and contribute to a cleaner environment.
The Kolberger Straße construction project is a testament to the city's commitment to improving infrastructure and creating a more accessible and sustainable city for its residents. The reopening of Kolberger Straße signifies a significant step forward in this endeavour.
