Hey there!

Get ready for some lively vibes because the 40th Bremer Sambakarneval is rolling in tomorrow, February 22! Located in the heart of the city, this colorful parade attracted by about 1,300 participants is sure to be a sight to behold. Throngs of spectators, estimated at tens of thousands, will gather as they wind their way from the market square to the Sielwall around noon.

After the grand parade, the street carnival continues! You can join the festivities in the Ostertorsteinweg area until approximately 6 pm. However, this merrymaking means changes to your regular routines – specifically, tram and bus lines of the Bremer Straßenbahn AG will face detours.

Tram lines 2 and 3 will be affected the most. From around 11 am to 7 pm, these lines will switch up their usual routes notably, taking a detour between Doventor/Eduard-Schopf-Allee and Sielwall via Daniel-von-Büren-Straße, Falkenstraße, Hauptbahnhof, Rembertistraße, Am Dobben, and Humboldtstraße. During this chaos, several stops, including Radio Bremen, Am Brill, Obernstraße, Domsheide, Theater am Goetheplatz, and Ulrichsplatz, will be skipped.

Tram line 8 will be detoured only within a specific window. From around 12:30 to 2:30 pm, the route runs in the direction of Kulenkampffallee between Daniel-von-Büren-Straße and Hauptbahnhof via Doventorsteinweg, Haferkamp, Lloydstraße, Doventor, Daniel-von-Büren-Straße, and Falkenstraße. Various stops will be skipped in this whirlwind, like Radio Bremen, Am Brill, Obernstraße, Domsheide, Schüsselkorb, and Herdentor. Lines 1, 4, and 6 will remain unchanged, but there might be occasional hiccups in the Domsheide area during the carnival parade.

Buses won't be left out of the fun either. At approximately 11:45 am to 2:30 pm, bus lines 24 and 25 will hop onto the detour train as well.

  • Bus line 24 will run in both directions between Hauptbahnhof and Hohentorsplatz via Am Wall and the Stephanibrücke. Skipped stops include Herdentor, Schüsselkorb, Domsheide, Wilhelm-Kaisen-Brücke, Am Neuen Markt, and Westerstraße. The stop Am Wall will still be accessible in both directions.
  • Bus line 25 will run in both directions between Hauptbahnhof and Doventor via Am Wall and Doventor. The skipped stops here are Herdentor, Schüsselkorb, Domsheide, Martinistraße, Am Brill, and Radio Bremen. Additionally, the stops Am Wall in both directions and Doventorstraße in the direction of Osterholz will be served.
