Sixty years of strolling around "Huck-ale-le" near Eyller lake
The district of Kleve is gearing up for a special summer as it hosts the 60th anniversary of the Huck-ale-le city holiday program at the Eyller See youth campsite. Since 1965, children from the southern district area have looked forward to the activities during the summer vacation weeks, and this year is no exception.
This year, the youth campsite will accommodate 200 schoolchildren per vacation week, thanks to a cooperation with the refugee accommodation in Weeze, which offers an additional 10 places. The varied program, carefully put together by Marion Janßen and Luzie Holzhauer, promises a summer filled with fun and learning.
Activities at the youth campsite include creative activities, building birdhouses and wooden huts, tournaments and games on the sports field, acrobatics, and cooking in the kitchen. The program is designed to encourage children to explore their creativity, develop teamwork skills, and engage in physical activities.
In addition to the regular activities, a special gathering is planned for all supervisors who have been a part of Huck-ale-le for the past 60 years. They will come together on Friday, 25 July 2025, to celebrate the long-standing tradition and the impact it has had on the lives of countless children.
The Huck-ale-le team has also launched an art project in collaboration with the "State Working Group Art and Media." The art project focuses on questions about human interaction in society and the role of supervisors in shaping positive interactions, providing an opportunity for both children and supervisors to reflect on the importance of the program.
