Additionally, pets may need grooming supplies to maintain hygiene and prevent infections or skin issues. The costs associated with pet ownership can be substantial, including veterinary bills, quality nutrition, grooming supplies, toys, collars, bedding, and emergency care.
The living environment must also be suitable for the pet. Some breeds require ample space and outdoor access, while others may adapt to apartments. Limited space, strict housing pet policies, or lack of nearby outdoor areas can make ownership challenging.
Pets, particularly high-energy dog breeds, need physical activity (1-2 hours daily for many dogs) and mental enrichment like training, games, and interactive toys to prevent behavioral issues. This requires a significant amount of effort to ensure the pet doesn't cause problems or pose a threat to its owners or people around them.
