Rewarded for Active Urban Cleanliness Efforts

In a commendable display of community spirit, Pforzheim, Germany, recently hosted its annual 'Clean City' action from April 15th to 20th. This year's event saw the participation of 19 schools and 21 clubs, making it one of the largest clean-up initiatives in the city's history.

The event, which is eagerly anticipated by Mayor Peter Boch, aims to bring together residents and organisations to clean up public spaces, promote environmental awareness, and foster a sense of civic responsibility.

The Pestalozzi School emerged as the top waste collector, followed closely by the Family Center North and the Island Primary School. In total, a significant amount of waste was collected, amounting to approximately 46.50 cubic meters. Whilst this figure is less than last year, the engagement of the participants was praised by Jürgen Förschler, the head of Technical Services.

Mayor Boch expressed his gratitude to all those who participated, stating that their efforts had made Pforzheim a little more livable and lovable. He presented awards at the conclusion of the action to recognise the important contribution made by the schools and clubs towards the city and the environment.

Some of the participating schools included the Otterstein Werkrealschule, Kepler-Gymnasium, and Schiller-Gymnasium, while clubs such as the Jugendtreff Würm, Jugendfeuerwehr Pforzheim, and Schwarzwaldverein Hohenwart also took part.
