Four Playgrounds Transformed in Gütersloh

In a bid to enhance children's play areas, four playgrounds in the city of Gütersloh have undergone a significant makeover between 2021 and 2022. The transformed playgrounds are located at Münstermannsweg, Kuckucksweg, Anna-Voß-Straße, and Birkhuhnweg.

At Kuckucksweg, a playground in the town center, children can now enjoy a diverse play area designed for children aged three to twelve. The play area includes a seven-meter-high "DNA-Tower", a zip line, a multi-trampoline, an inclusive sand play area with wheelchair access, a climbing mikado, and other rocks, ramps, and slides. Additionally, a path-guiding tactile guide strip made from granite paving stones from the former Konrad-Adenauer-Platz has been added.

The redesigned playground at Münstermannsweg offers many inclusive elements. Highlights include a Tampenschwinger, a large sand play area, a standing seesaw, a spring rocker, a balance beam, and a central play area with speaking tubes and a climbing path. New shrubs are planned to be added in the fall to enhance natural play. Seating and a picnic area have been added for parents and accompanying persons.

At Anna-Voß-Straße, a spring boat in the style of a pirate installation has been added, and the multi-swing has been renewed. New paths have been added to improve accessibility. A newly planted fence installation is intended to prevent dogs from entering.

The playground at Birkhuhnweg has been redesigned, featuring a wheelchair-accessible playhouse, a terrain vehicle with a gas station, and other inclusive elements.

The play facilities at Münstermannsweg offer opportunities for children to explore, discover their strengths, and challenge themselves. The playground was rebuilt from April to May 2025.

The Anna-Voß-Straße playground has undergone smaller measures, such as the replacement of play equipment and improvements to accessibility.

The renovated playground at Kuckucksweg incorporates modern, colorful equipment, natural wooden elements, and considers sustainability. Materials used at Kuckucksweg, such as paving stones and granite, come from demolition measures for the expansion of municipal primary schools.

The results of the redesign at Münstermannsweg speak for themselves. The playground has been open since the end of 2024. As of September 4, 2025, all four playgrounds in Gütersloh have been redesigned, providing modern, colorful, and inclusive play facilities for children of all ages.
