After a rainy July that saw more than two and a half times the usual rainfall, the summer weather is making a comeback in Berlin and Brandenburg. The free baths in the region, which have been much less busy than usual, are now preparing for an increase in visitors.

The summer baths in Berlin and Brandenburg have counted around 760,000 visitors since the season started at the end of April, which is about 110,000 fewer than in the same period last year. However, with temperatures expected to reach as high as 32 degrees in Berlin this weekend, bathing operators are gearing up for a surge in visitors.

The gloomy weather brought an unexpected summer success for Brandenburg's indoor pools. More and more people visit indoor pools when it's rainy, according to a spokesperson for Stadtwerke Potsdam. Tropical Islands, the largest indoor pool in Brandenburg, also reported a "good and above all short-term demand" during the rainy period.

One of the baths that have seen a significant increase in activity is Seebad Friedrichshagen on the shore of the Müggelsee. With 30 guests already today, compared to none two days ago, the activity at Seebad Friedrichshagen has increased significantly. Despite the changeable weather, the boats at Seebad Friedrichshagen are usually well booked in advance on weekends, but spontaneous bookings are still possible on weekdays.

The Berlin Water Police are also preparing for increased activity on the waters this weekend due to an anticipated increase in boats, rafts, and paddleboards. However, it's worth noting that if you're planning specific water activities like boating, swimming, or kayaking, pay particular attention to wind speed (ideally light to gentle breeze) and the chance of thunderstorms or rain, which can affect safety and enjoyment.

For precise and current weather conditions tailored to water activities over the weekend, you would need to consult a real-time weather service closer to the date, such as the German Weather Service (DWD) or a reputable forecasting website or app providing hourly updates including temperature, wind, precipitation, and UV indices.

As for the rest of the baths in Berlin and Brandenburg, they were displayed as green, indicating low to medium utilization. However, with the forecast predicting highs between 26 and 28 degrees this week, it's expected that many people will visit the baths. A spokesperson for the Berlin Bathing Operations expects many people to visit the baths at these temperatures.

Sunday's forecast in Berlin predicts highs between 24 and 27 degrees, providing a friendly end to the weekend for those looking to enjoy the outdoors. The previous summer weather has been "disastrous" for Seebad Friedrichshagen, but with the return of the summer weather, it's looking like a successful end to the summer bathing season.

In light of the anticipated hot weather and summer comeback, bathing operators in Berlin and Brandenburg are bracing for a surge in visitors, similar to the increased activity at Seebad Friedrichshagen. Meanwhile, indoor pools such as Tropical Islands have seen an increase in visitors during the rainy period, suggesting a potential integration of home-and-garden lifestyle, with outdoor-living, especially when weather conditions allow.
