Ikea's kitchen and storage planning services are set to pilot inside select Best Buy locations in the U.S., marking the first time Ikea's products and services will be available at another retailer in the country. This innovative collaboration aims to create a seamless shopping experience, combining Ikea's affordable, well-designed home furnishings with Best Buy's major appliances and technology expertise.

The pilot will launch at 10 Best Buy stores in Florida and Texas later this year, each featuring about 1,000 square feet of Ikea space with 3–5 planning stations and curated kitchen and laundry room vignettes showcasing furniture, cabinetry, lighting, and appliances. Customers will benefit from an immersive in-store experience, using 3D planning tools and receiving design consultations from Ikea specialists, as well as technical advice and installation logistics from Best Buy staff.

This partnership is aimed at making it more convenient for customers to access Ikea's products and services. By bringing together Ikea's home furnishing expertise, products, and services with Best Buy's leadership in appliances and technology, the two companies are creating a one-stop destination for customers to design their dream kitchen, storage solutions, or laundry space with ease.

The scope of the pilot includes offering the same options and benefits as shopping at Ikea stores or online, including Ikea Family member perks like bonus points for booking planning appointments. Moreover, two specific stores (Lakeland, FL and Alamo Ranch, TX) will serve as pickup points for Ikea online orders, adding convenience for customers who prefer in-person pickup.

Best Buy's blue shirt employees will provide advice on electronics, while Ikea co-workers will support customers in planning and ordering home furnishings. This collaboration is an example of retailers personalizing the shopper experience by tapping into consumer data.

Ikea plans to open eight new locations across the country this year, and this pilot represents an exciting step in the brand's expansion strategy. Best Buy, meanwhile, reported a first quarter revenue decline of 0.9% year over year to $8.8 billion, and lowered its full-year guidance due to the evolving trade policy landscape, now expecting a revenue range from $41.1 billion to $41.9 billion.

As consumer data becomes more readily available, retailers are exploring new opportunities to personalize the shopping experience. The collaboration between Ikea and Best Buy is one such example of this trend, demonstrating how retailers can work together to create unique and convenient shopping experiences for customers.
