Next week, Netflix is set to eliminate 48 films; here are the five must-watch movies you should catch before they're gone.

In August 2025, several movies will be leaving Netflix, including the critically acclaimed war film, "Dunkirk" (2017), directed by Christopher Nolan. This ultra-tense movie, featuring some of Nolan's most stunning camerawork and a powerful score by Hans Zimmer, is set to depart on August 1.

Other movies leaving Netflix on the same date include "Are We Done Yet?" (2007), "Bobby Z" (2007), "Conan the Destroyer" (1984), and "Dawn of the Dead" (2004).

However, there is no indication that Alfred Hitchcock's classics, including "Rear Window," are leaving Netflix in August 2025. If you want to watch "Dunkirk" or any of the other listed movies, it's best to do so before August 1.

Moving on to another film, "Happy Gilmore" (1996) is a comedy about a failed hockey player turned professional golfer. Starring Adam Sandler as the title character, Happy Gilmore, the movie also features Carl Weathers, Christopher McDonald, and Julie Bowen.

Set during World War II, "Dunkirk" (2017) depicts the evacuation of Dunkirk beach and showcases a military operation that saved hundreds of thousands of Allied soldiers. With a nonlinear structure and a lack of truly compelling characters, the movie does an excellent job of capturing an atmosphere of fear and chaos.

In contrast, "The Lego Movie" (2014) is an animated family film featuring zany humor and impressive animation. The movie follows the adventures of an average mini-figure named Emmet, who becomes the only hope of saving the Lego universe from evil. The film features the voices of Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, and Morgan Freeman. Unfortunately, "The Lego Movie" is also set to be removed from Netflix on August 1.

Finally, "Everest" (2015) is a survival thriller set on Mount Everest and inspired by a real-life disaster in 1996. The movie stars Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, Robin Wright, Keira Knightley, Sam Worthington, and Jake Gyllenhaal. With sweeping vistas of Mount Everest, the movie quickly becomes a battle for survival as Mother Nature takes a destructive toll. Despite its narrative not being particularly original, its cast is packed with talent, making it easy to get invested in the climbers' plight.

  • Switching gears from movies, let's delve into the realm of entertainment beyond the silver screen. If you're eager to spruce up your home-and-garden, or want to keep up with the latest lifestyle trends, Netflix offers a wide variety of shows under the 'home-and-garden' and 'lifestyle' categories.
  • Back to the world of cinema, while 'Dunkirk' (2017) showcases a historical military operation, movies such as 'The Lego Movie' (2014) and 'Everest' (2015) offer quite distinct entertainment experiences. The former, an animated family film, is filled with zany humor and impressive animation, while the latter, a survival thriller, presents a gripping tale of human resilience on Mount Everest. Unfortunately, all these movies, along with 'Dunkirk', will be leaving Netflix on August 1.
