New Urban Developments Unveiled within Bremen City
In the heart of Bremen, Germany, the city center is experiencing a renewal thanks to a successful promotion called 'City UpTrade - Seed Funding for Your Business in Bremen.' This initiative, implemented by WFB Wirtschaftsförderung Bremen GmbH on behalf of the federal program 'Future-proof inner cities and centers' (ZIZ) of the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Building, has attracted five new retail and catering businesses since its inception.
The promotion offers financial support in the start-up phase for innovative concepts settling in Bremen's city center. These businesses must meet certain criteria such as ensuring a diverse range, pursuing sustainable approaches, being eye-catching and attracting visitors, and strengthening the quality of stay in the city center.
Rooks & Rocks, a bespoke tailor, was the first company to settle in Bremen's city center as part of the City upTrade promotion, moving into Wall 184 at the end of 2023. Soon after, TepeMen, a sustainable men's clothing store, opened its doors in Knochenhauer Straße at the end of February 2024.
Joining them is Cinnamood, a delightful addition set to offer more than 20 different cinnamon roll variations in Obernstraße from June. For those with a sweet tooth, this is certainly worth a visit!
Moreover, Syniotec, a software developer, plans to open a creative and innovation hub at the corner of Am Wall/Sögestraße from mid-June. This hub will provide a place for founders, start-ups, and creatives to work, network, exchange ideas, and be inspired.
In addition to these new businesses, Frölichs restaurant serves regional and sustainable food and drinks in Faulenstraße 69, next to the Volkshochschule, since mid-April 2024.
City center property owners welcome this promotion as it counters vacancies, making the city center more vibrant and appealing. A subsidy for the monthly cold rent of the retail space is paid as part of the funding, which is an attractive criterion for potential settlers when deciding on the location of Bremen.
Andreas Heyer, CEO of WFB, has declared the promotion a success. The city center is not just a place to visit but a thriving hub of innovation and creativity, enhancing the quality of stay for both residents and tourists alike. Bremen's city center is truly becoming a destination worth exploring!
