Gear Checklist

Osprey Hikelite 26 - My go-to daypack. Light, tough, and keeps my back dry with the trampoline mesh.

  1. Choose wisely: The trail's rocky, root-filled, and can be muddy. Regular hikers upgrade to trail runners for a blend of protection and comfort.
  2. Dress for the highs: Climb above a mile in elevation at multiple points on this hike. Mountain weather can be chilly and intense, so check the forecast and bring extra layers.
  3. Lean on trekking poles: The trail's got some ups and downs, so stability's a plus.
  4. Survival essentials: Keep first-aid kits, water, snacks, map, and a headlamp tucked in your pack.
  5. Stay connected: Cell service is unreliable at best, so consider packing a satellite communicator.
