**McDonald's Japan, Toyota, and Takara Tomy Join Forces for Exciting Collaboration**

McDonald’s Japan, Takara Tomy, and Toyota GAZOO Racing (GR) have teamed up for an exciting series of collaborations, featuring limited-edition Tomica die-cast toy vehicles themed around Toyota’s performance GR models. These collectible toys are now included in McDonald’s Japan Happy Meals, combining iconic fast-food branding with Japanese automotive culture.

The collaboration made headlines in 2024 with a special golden GR Corolla Tomica, even showcased by Toyota President Akio Toyoda in a viral marketing video. For 2025, the spotlight has shifted to the Toyota GR Supra, presented in a “Safety Car” livery, continuing the partnership’s momentum. The 2025 Tomica GR Supra is released in two waves, with the first wave beginning on July 11, 2025.

These collectible cars are part of McDonald’s Japan Happy Sets, making them exclusive to in-restaurant purchases during the campaign period. The collaboration ties into Japan’s love for both collectible toys and motorsport culture, leveraging the popularity of the GR brand and Tomica’s die-cast legacy.

The campaign has generated buzz on platforms like TikTok, where unboxings and showcases of the GR Corolla model have been popular. The partnership is a joint effort by McDonald’s Japan, Takara Tomy, and Toyota, with coordinated marketing across all three brands.

In the TV commercial, WRC champion Kalle Rovanperä and drift driver Ken Gushi are featured, driving the gold GR Corolla and gold GR 86. An actual gold GR Corolla and a gold GR 86 were displayed at a McDonald's location in Tokyo. The video features a child playing with toy cars, with the actions reflected by the real vehicles and 1,000 synchronized drones.

Chairman Toyoda himself ordered a Happy Meal and expressed joy upon receiving a golden GR Corolla Tomica, which has generated a lot of buzz. The collaboration is aimed at making children smile, as Toyota, McDonald's, and Takara Tomy have formed a partnership with this goal in mind.

From May 10, toy cars from both the first and second rounds will be available in McDonald's Japan's Happy Meals. Happy Meals now come with toys from the second round in the series, which includes a Crown police car. McDonald’s Japan is celebrating its 10th year of featuring Tomica toy cars in its Happy Meal kids set.
