Mark your calendars for October 4th! The Wildgatter Oberrabenstein is hosting an event to celebrate International Day of Zoo Animal Care. 'A Career with Heart and Responsibility' will offer a unique opportunity to learn about the fascinating world of zoo animal care.
From 11 am to 3 pm, an information booth will be set up at Thomas-Müntzer-Höhe 13, Wing 3. The head keeper of the Wildgatter will be present to share personal experiences and answer questions about their career. Visitors can expect to learn about the specific skills required for caring for wild animals. This includes understanding their natural behaviour and habitat needs, providing appropriate nutrition based on natural food sources, training animals in survival skills, managing tolerance to human contact, and supporting social behaviour development.
The event also offers a glimpse into the daily tasks of zoo animal keepers. You can learn about food preparation, animal observation, and enclosure maintenance. Admission to the information booth is free, with regular Wildgatter Oberrabenstein admission prices applying (Adults €4.50, Reduced €3).
