Koblenz's Smart City Fortunes Mixed in 2025 Index

Koblenz has seen mixed fortunes in the latest Smart City Index 2025. While it has made significant strides in certain areas, it has also slipped in others, leaving it with an average score of 70.3 out of 100.

Koblenz has shown notable improvement in the society and education category, jumping to 40th place with 76.6 points. However, it has slipped to 62nd in administration with 67.5 points and 66th in IT and communication with 65.1 points. In the mobility category, Koblenz has improved but still ranks only 59th with 61.2 points. Its performance in energy and environment is commendable, ranking 6th with 81.0 points.

Despite these improvements, Koblenz's overall ranking has not changed significantly, remaining at 43rd nationwide. The city's score in the Smart City Index 2025 is 70.3, which is below the average for large cities in Rhineland-Palatinate, which stands at 69.6 points. The state as a whole performs below average among German states, with top performers being Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, and Saxony.

Koblenz's progress in the Smart City Index 2025 is a mixed bag. While it has made significant leaps in some categories, it has also slipped in others.
