In the heart of Bavaria, the County of Fürth is making strides towards a greener future. The recent Sustainability Prize 2025 ceremony saw four outstanding projects recognised for their commitment to sustainability. Among the winners, the Stein Gymnasium shone brightest with its innovative "Climate School Stein" project.

The "Climate School Stein" is a collaborative effort between teachers, parents, and students at the school. The project aims to integrate climate protection and sustainability into every aspect of school life, fostering a new generation of environmentally conscious citizens.

County Administrator Bernd Obst, in his address at the award ceremony, praised the Stein Gymnasium for their great work, emphasising the importance of sustainable development in various areas of life. The project team's dedication was further recognised by the generous support of the Sparkasse Fürth.

The "Climate School Stein" team began by determining the school's CO2 footprint and developing a specific climate protection plan. Various activities, such as workshops and film screenings, are part of the project, providing students with hands-on experience in practical first aid skills, as demonstrated by the "Hero Break" in the Dillenberg School.

Elsewhere in Fürth, the Horst Brandstätter Group is making strides in sustainability too. The company has switched to bio-based plastics for Playmobil Junior, aiming to raise environmental awareness among young visitors and actively contribute to biodiversity and bee populations. Their efforts culminated in the construction of a bee experience trail in the Playmobil Funpark.

Another notable initiative comes from the Veitsbronn food bank. By installing a photovoltaic system on the Veitsbad roof, they ensure sustainable energy generation, supporting not only their own operations but also social projects in the community.

While specific details about Fürth's focus on sustainability remain scarce, it is clear that the County is committed to a greener future. The Sustainability Prize 2025 is a testament to this commitment, recognising and rewarding the efforts of those who are leading the charge towards sustainability in Fürth.
