In Almaty, the Turksib district has constructed a new residence for a substantial family.
In the heart of Kazakhstan, the Turksib district in Almaty is witnessing a significant transformation as local authorities continue their efforts to gasify private homes. This shift from traditional stove heating to blue fuel is making a significant impact, as evidenced by the Ushaliyev family's story.
At the beginning of the year, 918 homes in the Turksib district were still reliant on stove heating. Half of these homes have since been connected to blue fuel, leaving a warmer and more comfortable living environment for their residents. However, there are still 300 homes that cannot be connected due to various reasons, such as lack of registration, incomplete construction, or unfinished internal networks.
The Ushaliyev family, who previously lived traditionally and chopped wood for heating, were not left out in the cold. Kind-hearted individuals, including businessmen, stepped forward to help, ensuring the family would soon move into a new, warm, and spacious home. This new home, a gift from the generous donors, has been connected to blue fuel for free.
The mother of the large family is overjoyed, as they no longer have to perform the arduous task of chopping wood and lighting the stove three times a day in the cold. Low-income families in the Turksib district have also received free assistance to connect to blue fuel.
Baken Zhadirasyn, a resident of the Turksib district and a dedicated helper, has been assisting the district since 2016. Investors, like Mr. Zhadirasyn, have also helped 14 other needy families in the Nurshakhan microdistrict.
The microdistrict elders brought attention to the Ushaliyev family's difficulties, and Almaty residents were among those who showed kindness and helped the family. This heartwarming story highlights the spirit of community and generosity in Almaty, where 99% of the private sector heats their homes with blue fuel, while the remaining 1% are mostly low-income individuals.
Despite the progress made, it is important to note that there is a lack of specific, up-to-date information about Almaty's private sector home heating status, assistance to low-income families, and gasification progress. For precise information, one would need to consult local government reports, Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Energy updates, or Almaty city administration communications released after mid-2025.
