Ikea's 2025 Stockholm Collection, designed by Paulin Machado, Nike Karlsson, and Ola Wihlborg, brings Scandinavian craftsmanship to the forefront of contemporary design. The collection, which marks the 40th anniversary of the Stockholm collection, debuted at Milan Design Week 2025, showcasing a seamless blend of artisanal quality and modern functionality.

The collection is inspired by nature and the natural world, with Machado drawing inspiration from her nature diary and sketchbook. This is evident in the design of the bowl, which was inspired by moss and its miniature world-like appearance. The bowl's design is also reminiscent of mushrooms and an upturned rock in a river, adding a whimsical touch to the collection.

Machado's designs for the collection also incorporate the 'rollakan' technique, an old Swedish rug-making technique, and feature birch as a significant inspiration. The collection includes a wide range of pieces, such as a curved two-seat sofa, intricate rugs, wooden trays, glass cabinets, vases, an elegant pendant lamp, and more.

The collection's focus on craftsmanship is evident in the hand-crafted details and natural finishes that celebrate Scandinavian heritage. The designs are tailored for modern lifestyles, offering practical yet elegant solutions suitable for everyday use. The use of sustainable and natural materials aligns with Ikea's broader goals of environmental responsibility, promoting durability and timelessness.

Machado faced challenges while designing the glassware for the collection, but her perseverance paid off, resulting in a stunning array of pieces that pay homage to her inspiration from mushrooms and the natural world.

The Ikea Stockholm 2025 collection is available worldwide on ikea.com. The collection's commitment to sustainable materials, thoughtful production, and traditional techniques, combined with its modern design aesthetic, makes it a must-have for any home seeking a touch of Scandinavian craftsmanship.
