The historic inn "Beim Sedlmayr" in Munich's old town has reopened its doors after a 13-month renovation, welcoming patrons with a modern yet traditional ambiance. Since 2024, the inn has been owned by the Kuffler group, with Sebastian Kuffler and his brother Stefan serving as innkeepers.

The interior of the inn boasts a solid light oak parquet floor and wall cladding, a hand-laid mosaic of Isar stones, and three cast iron columns filled with concrete for fire protection. The vaulted ceiling, a historical marvel of statics, has been preserved during the renovation.

A private dining area with a charming niche for up to 14 people is painted in delicate sage green, maintaining a traditional touch. The old tiles buried in the basement floor have been repurposed as partition walls for the toilets, adding a unique character to the space.

Folding sliding elements have been installed to allow the inn's front to be fully opened, providing a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor seating. The front window on Westenriederstraße can also be fully opened, offering a view of the bustling old town.

The classic-style urinals and toilets are from England and "upper class", while all sinks in the inn are made of Bavarian natural stone. A large portrait of the legendary actor Walter Sedlmayr, who gave the inn its name, is still present, along with the round regulars' table in the corner and the autograph corner above it.

The inn's menu has been spiced up by Chef Philipp Richter, offering refined and cosmopolitan dishes. The guests' favourite dish remains the braised ox cheeks with mushroom goulash, light semmel dumplings, and hearty braising sauce. A daily lunch special is available between 11:30 am and 3 pm, such as roast chicken with stuffed semmel dumplings and mixed salad.

A liter of beer costs 4.30 euros. The listed facade has been largely preserved during the renovation, ensuring the inn's historical charm remains intact. The classic-style urinals and toilets from England add a touch of elegance to the modern interior.

The inn, which has borne the name of its most famous innkeeper since 1989, is now a must-visit destination for locals and tourists alike.
