The Maximilianpark, including the Maxigarden, was awarded the prestigious third star in the 'Our Gardens' category, while the Canal Quarter project was recognized as one of the 30 future projects for its innovative urban development plans.
The Maximilianpark's journey began in 2020 when it was first recognized for its innovative ideas and green visions, earning its first star. Now, four years later, it has been awarded the maximum of three stars for its future-proofing efforts. This third star has regional significance, strengthens future gardens, and is relevant to the IGA's main question, demonstrating a strong commitment to sustainability.
The Canal Quarter project in Hamm was chosen for its model character and active development work. It was one of 30 projects recognized for its forward-thinking plans in urban development, landscape design, tourism, mobility, and energy. Both the visualized ideas and realized projects within the Metropole Ruhr were eligible for the Future Projects award.
The awards were presented at the German Mining Museum in Bochum, highlighting the importance of these projects in shaping the future of the region. The city of Hamm can be proud of these achievements, which not only recognize past efforts but also encourage continued innovation and sustainability.
