Symeon Anastasiou, the former manager of the Neubrandenburg restaurant "Marathon", is currently in the midst of a new chapter in his life. After managing the popular eatery until March 31, 2025, Anastasiou is now focusing on a different passion – the crypto area.
The building that houses "Marathon" is owned by the Neubrandenburg housing company Neuwoges. With a new operator taking over the business in March 2025, Anastasiou is now lending a helping hand to Elena and Arber Vorfi, the new owners. He has taken a liking to them and is currently assisting them with bookkeeping.
During his tenure as a gastronome, Anastasiou was known for his reserved nature. Discussions with guests were rare, and he managed to maintain a high satisfaction rate, with 98 percent of the visitors expressing satisfaction. However, he admits that he does not miss the disagreements with guests from his years as a gastronome.
Anastasiou's decision to leave the restaurant industry was not a sudden one. He earns "almost the same amount of money" in the crypto area as he did in the restaurant, and he describes himself as an "active professional trader" in this new field. In fact, he has intensively dealt with the crypto area in recent months and even founded his own company in this sector.
The transition from manager to no longer having any obligations was "very challenging" for Anastasiou in the first two months. But he has since been using his newfound free time to reshape his private life. He stopped by the restaurant almost daily in April to support his successors, but now his focus lies firmly in the crypto area.
As for a potential return to gastronomy, Anastasiou would consider it if his children were interested, but not as a manager. For now, his future plans include focusing on the crypto area, where he hopes to make a significant impact.
