Gold brooms now in use in Eller, Hamm, and Kaiserwerth areas of Dusseldorf
Düsseldorf, Germany, is gearing up for its annual Clean-Up Day, with a host of local institutions and individuals showing their commitment to the city's cleanliness. Among those participating are the Hamm support association and the Catholic Kindergarten St. Gertrude in Eller.
The Hamm support association, with around 400 members, will also be partaking in the Rhine Cleanup. Last year, their engagement earned them a golden broom, one of three awarded to groups with exceptional commitment during the Clean-Up Day 2022.
The Catholic Kindergarten St. Gertrude in Eller was another winning group. The children, during their outings, noticed litter and took the initiative to address this issue. As a result, they made the Clean-Up Day a project in their kindergarten, creating a "litter corner" for sorting litter in a playful way and even establishing a compost pile.
The Neighborhood Forum GK Kaiserswerth, an alliance of numerous institutions, schools, and associations, is also involved in the Clean-Up Day. This forum includes prestigious institutions like the Support Association Kaiserpfalz e.V., the Great Kaiserswerth Carnival Society, the International School Düsseldorf, and the Theodor Fliedner Gymnasium.
Individuals and groups can still register for the Clean-Up Day 2023 via the official website, www.clean-up-day.de. The event, organised annually by Pro Düsseldorf, took place on Monday, March 6, this year.
The Environmental Deputy of Düsseldorf, Jochen Kral, praised the commitment of the citizens for the cleanliness of the city. Singer Enkelson has been announced as one of the ambassadors for the Clean-Up Day 2023, further emphasising the city's efforts to raise awareness about the importance of keeping Düsseldorf clean.
As the Clean-Up Day approaches, many Hamm residents have marked it in their calendars, ready to contribute to the city's cleanliness drive. The exact locations for litter collection have not been announced yet, but with the participation of various institutions and individuals, it's clear that the community spirit will be strong.
