Equans to Build 99 Net Zero Homes in Winsford, Cheshire

Equans, a leading provider of low-carbon solutions, is set to commence a significant project in Winsford, Cheshire. The company, headed by Steven Gregory as Project Director, will transform a brownfield site into 99 net zero homes, marking a step towards the Future Homes Standard.

The project, due to begin with demolition on March 6th, will see the construction of 99 homes that will not be connected to the gas network. Instead, they will feature low-carbon heating and solar panels, aligning with the Future Homes Standard set to come into effect in 2025. This standard requires new homes to emit 75-80% less carbon than current standards.

Equans is no stranger to such projects, with two other low-carbon initiatives underway in the area, including the development of 138 homes on Wharton Green. The Winsford project, led by Equans, has received planning consent to demolish and redevelop a former depot on Clough Lane. Torus will collaborate on the development, focusing on delivering sustainable homes that meet the Future Homes Standard. Additionally, the project will enhance connectivity by creating a new footpath and cycle path, encouraging active travel.

The construction of these 99 net zero homes in Winsford is expected to be completed by May 2025. This project, under the guidance of Equans and Torus, not only provides new homes but also contributes to the region's sustainability goals and improves local infrastructure.
