Elzach-Yach's 20th Landscape Maintenance Day Engages 70 Helpers and 10 Children
Elzach-Yach celebrated its 20th annual landscaping maintenance day on September 27, 2025, with around 70 participants. For the first time, a children's program was introduced, engaging 10 young helpers across three farms. The event aimed to preserve the Black Forest landscape and show support for local farmers.
The 20th anniversary of the landscaping maintenance day was marked by a significant addition: a children's program. Ten children participated, lending a helping hand on three different farms. Their tasks included dredging a pond, constructing feed boxes, picking apples, and grooming horses. This initiative was likely a local effort to educate children about the importance of landscaping maintenance and involve them in community work.
The main event saw around 70 participants, including approximately 60 helpers. They were dispatched to various mountain farms to clear overgrown pastures, inspect dry stone walls, and check hiking trails. The Landscape Conservation Association of Emmendingen County, the city of Elzach, the Yach Landscape Maintenance and Homeland Association, and the Emmendingen County Administration jointly organized the event. It served as a testament to their commitment to preserving the typical Black Forest landscape and standing in solidarity with local farmers.
