District Festival Offering Open-Air Magic Show, Meals, and a Rainbow of Activities in Mockau
The vibrant neighbourhood of Mockau in Leipzig is gearing up for the eighth edition of the "Colorful Mockau Summer" festival, set to take place on August 16th and 17th. This annual street and cultural event, which promotes neighbourhood, diversity, and togetherness, has been a staple in the city since 2018.
The festival, organised by the Department for Housing and Urban Renewal, Quartiersmanagement INTIGRA Mockau+, local initiatives, associations, and schools, offers a variety of activities for all ages. The event kicks off on Saturday at 11 am with a concert by Thomas Weber, followed by a plethora of activities throughout the day.
Children can enjoy a magic show and improvisational theater, while the younger crowd can indulge in face painting, glitter tattoos, giant soap bubbles, and a variety of crafting activities. For the older crowd, there's can tossing, an interactive circus, and live music performances.
On Saturday, the band "Index F" will take the stage at 5 pm, providing an energetic end to the day's festivities. For those interested in showcasing their own talents, registration is required for the "Open stage for Mockau" on Saturday.
The location for the event is a green space opposite Otto-Michael-Straße 16 to 22. Food trucks with international cuisine, grill, cake, and ice cream stands will be available for food and drinks during the festival.
On Sunday, the day begins with an outdoor church service at 10 am, followed by a community breakfast at 11 am, with live music provided by saxophonist Jon Triol.
