Disney Hints at Thrilling New Attractions: The Lion King and UP Rollercoasters

Disneyland Paris is set to undergo a significant transformation, with two new attractions themed around the beloved movies, The Lion King and Up, set to join the park as part of the Disney Adventure World expansion.

The Lion King ride, currently without a specific name, will offer a unique log flume experience, taking parkgoers through caves beneath a 120-foot Pride Rock and a 52-foot-high descent. This immersive attraction will also feature plenty of dining, shopping, and opportunities to meet characters from the iconic movie. The ride is scheduled to celebrate the movie's 30th anniversary in 2024.

Construction on the Lion King ride will begin in the fall, with thematic landscaping like yellow acacias planted around its future Pride Lands zone already underway. The ride's development is in full swing, with testing activities, such as water-based ride systems, observed during the summer of 2025.

The larger Disney Adventure World is scheduled to open in 2026, with the park itself progressing rapidly with infrastructure like sidewalks, themed fencing, lampposts, and landscaping largely finalized by August 2025.

Meanwhile, the Up attraction will provide parkgoers with a bird's-eye view of the park's stunning scenery. Russell and Doug will feature prominently on the artwork, along with a large number of balloons. The exact location of the Up ride has been confirmed to be directly across from Raiponce Tangled Spin, and it's presumably in advanced planning or early construction stages along with other new lands.

The reveal of construction on the Lion King ride was made on Saturday, with further updates on Marvel, Star Wars, Star Trek, DC Universe, and Doctor Who available elsewhere.

As the construction timeline for the Up attraction is less publicly detailed, it is expected to align with this general 2025–2026 period as part of the overall expansion effort.

Visitors can look forward to these exciting additions to Disneyland Paris, as they embark on a journey through the enchanting worlds of The Lion King and Up in Disney Adventure World. For more information about the World of Frozen, please visit our dedicated page.
