Discover a diverse array of locally-sourced presents, spanning from Harlem to Hawaii, at R Finds' international online marketplace
In a recent venture, Renaissance Hotels embarked on a global shopping spree, partnering with R Finds to source unique items from various cities around the world. The goal was to find items not available at home, recognizing and empowering creative economies.
The journey took them to Paris, where they discovered Moustache, a store that transports you into a modern house from Jacques Tati's film Mon Oncle. Known for its playful and offbeat creations conceived by famous international designers and produced in Europe, Moustache provided a selection of exquisite items.
The travels continued to New York, where they visited the CAC Design Store. This shop offers art books, home decor, Chicago-themed gifts and apparel, with many items featuring the architecture and design of Frank Lloyd Wright.
Chicago was another city on the list. Here, they found Oak & Oscar, a premium watch-maker and design studio. Named in honor of the founder's fondness for oak barrel-aged bourbon and his beloved dog, Oscar, Oak & Oscar has collaborated with Wilson Sporting Goods and the US Olympic men's curling team.
The journey also led them to Charleston, where they discovered J Stark, a wife-and-husband-led atelier. Known for their ruggedly capacious canvas totes and holdalls in bright, happy colors, J Stark's items were a highlight of the shopping spree.
Hawaii was the next stop, where they purchased from Manoa Chocolate, a company that produces vegan-friendly chocolate using ethically sourced beans on the island of Oahu. The Guava flavor, a taste of tropical paradise, was a particular favorite.
The shopping spree also included purchases from Flamekeepers Hat Club, a milliner located in Harlem. Flamekeepers aims to pass the torch of 'good taste' from one generation to the next, trading not just on fine hats and headgear, but also on the intangible qualities of warmth and grace, friendliness and confidence.
Brackish, a company that makes bespoke bow ties with colorfully inlaid, locally sourced feathers, was another stop on the shopping spree. The journey also took them to Chicago Vintage Posters, a gallery store selling original US and European poster artworks from the 20th century.
One of the most notable purchases was the Flamekeepers Hellfighter wide-brim hat from Harlem milliner Flamekeepers Hat Club. Designed to make the wearer feel more confident and graceful, this hat is more than just a piece of headgear.
The shopping spree concluded with a visit to Stéphane Arriuberge and Massimiliano Lorio's Moustache store in Paris. The items purchased here, including local crafts, quality mementoes, garments, accessories, and edible delights, will undoubtedly add a touch of European charm to Renaissance Hotels' new digital marketplace.
