Cicchetti Piccadilly, a beloved San Carlo Group restaurant known for its Venetian-style small plates, has undergone a transformation that beautifully balances modernity and informality. This revamp, designed by the London and LA-based interior architecture studio Fettle, aims to create a vibrant yet contemporary atmosphere without losing the traditional charm.
Located at 172-173 Piccadilly, London W1J 9EJ, United Kingdom, the new Cicchetti Piccadilly spans a spacious 7,520 sq ft. The main dining space is defined by vibrant yellow walls, while the long bar features a high-gloss timber front, playful red and pink mosaic tiles, and chequered pink upholstery on the bar stools.
The interior design, a collaboration between London and LA-based design firm Fettle, merges classic Italian roots with a modern hospitality vibe. Andy Goodwin, co-founder and creative director of Fettle, explains that they modernized the look and feel of the original restaurant through color blocking and incorporating details such as scalloped borders and chequered patterns.
Mirrored tiles set into a frieze and verre églomisé mural panels are featured in the main dining space, reflecting the chandelier light and softening the lofty ceiling. The new venue of Cicchetti Piccadilly evokes a Venetian sunset atmosphere with warm colors and reflective surfaces.
The menu offers a wide selection of categories, including pane and bruschetta, fritti, stuzzichini, salads, pasta, pizza, meats, fish, and vegetables. Among the popular dishes are the stylish tempura prawns, dressed with spicy mayonnaise and served in a cocktail glass.
Cicchetti Piccadilly recommends ordering two to three dishes per person and sharing them as they become ready. The dessert menu includes the Dolci Cicchetti, a selection of mini bites accompanied by a glass of limoncello.
