Construction of single-directional traffic flow will be implemented on Franzosenweg and Schimmelstraße for a span of three years as part of urban renewal efforts.

The city of Halle (Saale), Germany, is set to undergo a significant transformation with the comprehensive renovation of its historic city bath, one of the largest construction projects in the city's heart for the coming years. The renovation, which is expected to be completed by July 31, 2028, is being undertaken by the city-owned Baths GmbH and is being funded extensively by the federal government, the state, and the city.

The renovation project, which will preserve a building complex that has been continuously used as a swimming pool and an architectural monument of bathing culture since 1916, will not affect the use of the swimming pool during the construction period. The Jugendstil bath, as it is known, is the focus of the extensive renovation.

Starting on August 4, 2025, the sidewalk along Schimmelstraße, leading to the entrance of the bath, will be closed. No-parking zones will be in effect in Schimmelstraße, Franzosenweg, and at the entrance to the youth hostel in Große Steinstraße. The pedestrian bridge in Große Steinstraße leading to the entrance of Franzosenweg will be completed before the implementation of the one-way traffic system, which is expected to be announced by the city authorities in due course.

From July 31, 2028, Schimmelstraße can only be driven towards Große Steinstraße, while Franzosenweg can only be driven from Große Steinstraße towards Straße der Opfer des Faschismus. The estimated cost of the renovation is 27.3 million euros.

The renovation of the city bath is a major project in preserving historical architectural monuments in the city and a testament to the city's commitment to maintaining its historical and cultural heritage. For the most accurate and up-to-date information about any local traffic changes that may be implemented around the construction site, it is recommended to consult the official website or press releases from the city of Halle (Saale) or the relevant transport department.

The renovation project of the Jugendstil bath, a home-and-garden of architectural monuments and bathing culture, also serves as a lifestyle statement for the city of Halle (Saale), Germany, regarding heritage preservation. To stay updated on potential traffic changes during construction, be sure to check the official city or transport department's website or press releases.
