Commencing operations today: Expanded bus service in Bremen's Eastern and Southern districts
In the heart of Bremen, exciting changes are on the horizon for the city's public transportation system. While specific details about the upcoming bus network redesign have yet to be officially announced by BSAG, we can expect some typical adjustments based on recent trends.
One of the most significant changes will involve Line 21 and Line 37, as they will now connect with Line 21 on Line 37, particularly on morning and evening services, as well as Sundays. This modification aims to improve connectivity and efficiency across the network.
Another notable change is the introduction of a new on-demand taxi service, Line 67, which will run between Neuenlander Straße and Warturmer Platz. This innovative addition to the network will cater to the growing demand for flexible and convenient public transportation options.
Line 37 will maintain its current route, but buses will now run every 20 minutes during weekdays, offering improved frequency for commuters. Meanwhile, Line 42 will be discontinued and replaced by the modified Line 29.
Several stops will also see changes, with Allerkai, Hermann-Funk-Straße, La-Rochelle-Straße (replaced by Koppelweg), Werrahafen, and Warturmer Heerstraße no longer being served. On the other hand, Bergener Straße-West and Bergener Straße-Süd are newly established stops.
In addition, some stops and routes will undergo name changes. Bergener Straße will now be known as Bergener Straße-Nord, Europaallee/Autohof as Autohof Hemelingen-Europaallee-Ost, and Senator-Paulmann-Straße as Warturmer Platz.
Line 63 will run all trips over the existing route Am Tabakquartier, but the section between Alter Schutzdeich - Pappelstraße - Hochschule Bremen and Westerstraße will no longer be served.
Line 52 will undergo significant changes as well. The section between Paul-Feller-Straße - Arsterdamm - Robert-Koch-Straße - Anna-Stiegler-Straße and Kattenturm-Mitte will no longer be served, and Line 52 will no longer run to Kattenturm. Instead, it will go to Huckelriede due to construction on the A281.
Moreover, Bordeaux-Straße will be a new stop towards Weserwehr on Line 52, and Koppelweg will replace La-Rochelle-Straße on the same line. Interestingly, trips on Line 67 must be booked by phone at least 30 minutes before departure.
As BSAG continues to evolve and adapt to the needs of the city, these changes reflect a commitment to better network coverage, efficiency, and sustainability. For exact route changes, line extensions, or service frequency modifications relating to bus lines 21, 23, 29, 52, 63, or new line 67, it's best to refer to BSAG's official sources, such as their website, press releases, or public transport planning documents updated after August 2025.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to monitor the developments in Bremen's public transportation system!
The upcoming changes in Bremen's public transportation system extend beyond the bus network redesign, as a new on-demand taxi service, Line 67, will cater to the growing demand for flexible options. In the home-and-garden sector, some stops like Allerkai and La-Rochelle-Straße will no longer be served, while others like Bergener Straße-West and Bergener Straße-Süd are being added.
