The much-anticipated exhibition by painter Vera Laros, titled "Vera Laros", is now open at the Brunhilde Moll Foundation's art hall in Düsseldorf, Germany. The exhibition is housed in the former residence and studio of Joseph Beuys at Drakeplatz 4 in Düsseldorf-Oberkassel and will run from July 27th.

Vera Laros' work is known for its colorful, nightmarishly distorted images. Her paintings often feature monstrous teeth, all-devouring fish eyes, and landscapes that border on the surreal. Some of her self-portraits feature oversized eyes and defiant expressions, while others showcase her unique style of painting with hair like a mountain range, faces, cracks, and black-winged shreds.

The exhibition is open Saturdays, Sundays, and Thursdays from 12-4 pm and Tuesdays from 2-6 pm. For those interested in a guided tour, public tours are available on June 26th and July 24th, each at 6 pm. Admission to the exhibition is free.

Vera Laros, born in 1967, was the granddaughter of the Düsseldorf car dealership founder Adelbert Moll. After studying business administration, she later pursued art. Her struggle with inner demons is evident in her unleashed work, which includes two monumental heads and a painting with greenish creatures.

The shadow figure "Longfingers" is a flexible, black and white image where the head reaches the lap and the white void between belly and face is an embryo. This piece, along with others, is on display at the exhibition.

Elza Czarnowski, the artistic director of the Brunhilde Moll Foundation, is featured in a photo in front of Vera Laros' shadow figure "Longfingers" (2008). The arms of the shadow figure hang forward, resembling branches, and the fingers become shoots or roots.

Vera Laros' work was displayed at the Brunhilde Moll Foundation after her death in 2018. An art book about her life and work, titled "That's me", has been published by Kettler Verlag and is available in bookstores. The book contains 184 pages and costs 38 euros.

The Brunhilde Moll Foundation has made the former Beuys House at Drakeplatz in Düsseldorf-Oberkassel its headquarters and an art hall. The foundation aims to promote contemporary art and support artists, making it the perfect home for Vera Laros' expressive and thought-provoking work.
