Celebration of Richtfest at the newly built children's and family center in Bremen-Lesum

The city of Bremen is set to welcome a new Children and Family Center in Lesum, replacing an outdated facility that no longer meets modern Kita requirements. The new center, sponsored by the municipal Eigenbetrieb KiTa Bremen, is being built by the executing construction company FA. Stehnke and is expected to be occupied in late summer 2025.

The old Children and Family Center Lesum had only 60 care places in four groups, but the expansion of the new center will increase capacity to accommodate up to 120 children, with six groups each having corresponding differentiation rooms. During the construction phase, the children will be temporarily cared for in a mobile building at Klostermühlenweg.

Petra Zschüntzsch, deputy managing director and pedagogical director of KiTa Bremen, expressed her pleasure at the expansion of the pedagogical offer in the nursery area. "The new Children and Family Center Lesum will significantly improve the quality of care and education for children in the Lesum neighbourhood," she said.

The new center is a two-story building with a gross floor area of 1,540 square meters and will meet ecological standards. The Passivhaus standard will be used to protect the climate, making it an environmentally friendly facility.

The architect for the new Children and Family Center Lesum is Herr Bertram, and the topping-out ceremony was attended by Kerstin Brockmüller, project manager at Immobilien Bremen, the management of the KuFZ Lesum, Jessica Langenberg, the acting director of KiTa Bremen, Petra Stubakow, architect Herr Bertram, Henrik Wohltmann from the responsible construction company Stehnke, and Finance Senator Björn Fecker.

Henrik Wohltmann is heavily involved with the new Children and Family Center Lesum project, ensuring that the construction remains on schedule and within budget. The new center is set to cost approximately nine million euros.

The new Children and Family Center Lesum will also feature a new production kitchen for preparing meals fresh daily for the children. This will ensure that the children receive nutritious and balanced meals as part of their care.

The new Children and Family Center Lesum will be a valuable addition to the city of Bremen, providing high-quality care and education for children in the Lesum neighbourhood. For precise and updated information regarding the construction, occupancy, and expansion plans for the Children and Family Center Lesum, it is recommended to consult Bremen’s official city or social services websites or contact the relevant municipal department.

The new Children and Family Center Lesum, set to be a valuable addition to Bremen's home-and-garden landscape, will offer an improved lifestyle for children in the Lesum neighborhood, complete with a variety of care places and corresponding differentiation rooms. With a Passivhaus standard for environmental friendliness, this two-story facility will also boast a new home-and-garden production kitchen, ensuring nutritious meals for children.
