Schloss Benrath, a stunning Baroque palace in Düsseldorf, Germany, has recently been commemorated with a unique minting by the European Mint Company "EuroMint" and the Stiftung Schloss und Park Benrath.

Commissioned by Elector Carl Theodor in 1755, the palace was initially planned as a retirement home for his wife, Elisabeth Auguste. Unfortunately, Elisabeth Auguste passed away before Carl-Theodor, leaving the palace to serve as a hunting and pleasure retreat instead.

The mintings, available in fine silver and fine gold, showcase the main building of Schloss Benrath on one side and the pond and further building arrangement of the complex on the other. The fine gold version costs 999 euros, while the fine silver version costs 69 euros.

Nicolas de Pigage, a French architect renowned for his Baroque style designs, was responsible for the palace's creation. Construction began in 1755 and was completed in 1771, taking about 16 years to finish. The construction of the water games, ponds, and park facilities took longer than the castle itself.

Prof. Dr. Stefan Schweizer, the scientific director of the Stiftung Schloss und Park, refers to himself as a "notorious outsider." Under his leadership, the mintings have been added to the Benrather Schloss collection.

The mintings have no nominal value and should not be considered as an investment. They are now available for purchase in the museum shop at the castle or via the online site of the mint company. The first two coins were presented to the foundation board in the cupola hall of the castle.

Visitors to Schloss Benrath can also enjoy the Schlosscafé, situated in one of its side wings, offering a princely ambience with food and drink next to a pond within the palace grounds.

Despite extensive research, no specific financial figures regarding the construction cost of Schloss Benrath have been found in the current sources. However, the palace's Baroque elegance and historical significance continue to captivate visitors and enthusiasts alike.
