Original Joe's Opens in Walnut Creek
After much anticipation, the new Original Joe's restaurant in Walnut Creek, California, officially opened its doors on August 14. This marks the first East Bay outpost for the nearly 90-year-old San Francisco institution.
Located at 1300 S. Main St. at Broadway Plaza, in the former Stanford's space, the restaurant offers a menu filled with Original Joe's classic dishes, such as meatballs, Caesar salad, spicy rigatoni, and wood-fired meats. You can also find popular items from their newer San Francisco location, like zucchini fries and a smaller cheeseburger from Little Original Joe's. A unique item on the menu is a Dungeness crab roll served with housemade potato chips.
The interior design of the restaurant showcases a large, 50-foot counter running along a vast dining room, allowing customers to watch chefs grill porterhouse steaks and lamb chops over a mesquite charcoal fire, a signature of Original Joe's. Red diner-style leather seats adorn the counter, while the opposite side of the dining room includes a private room with its own bar and patio, perfect for events or public dining. Outdoor seating consists of two main patios with retractable awnings, misters, and heaters for comfort. The decor features framed photos of family members and longtime employees, continuing the chain’s tradition and connection to its history.
