On a Saturday night, the vibrant Kalkum shooting festival commenced, filled with the rhythmic beats of the Tambour Corps "Frisch Auf" Kalkum performing on the town square. The festivities began with a poignant tribute at the war memorial for fallen comrades.

This year, the regimental king, Florian Kels, added a new dimension to the celebration. As the current representative, he aimed to secure the festival's future beyond his term, especially in catering to the fair's expanding power demands. A donation campaign was launched during the event, primarily focusing on funding a permanent power supply estimated to cost around 20,000 euros. The morning wake-up call on Sunday is a beloved tradition in Kalkum, despite occasional objections. The brotherhood kindly requests understanding for this age-old custom. After the service at St. Lambertus, the fun continued for the children all day, with a program themed "magical fairytale land".

The afternoon brought the grand spectacle for the majesties. Florian Kels, the 1st business manager of the brotherhood, triumphantly led a procession with his queen, Anika, and Crown Prince Domenic Fußbahn from the Tambour Corps, accompanied by Princess Carolin Tillmanns. A parade ensued at the war memorial, followed by an electrifying performance by the Swinging Funfares in the evening.

An estimated 100-year-old tradition in Kalkum is the riding corps, which was also a prominent feature this year. The coronation day was especially thrilling, with Maximilian Hermes from the Tambour Corps being named crown prince, partnered with Princess Luzie Weber. The new regimental king's couple, Benjamin and Aylin Brechter from the Fusiliers Society, were crowned in a grand coronation ball held in the tent. The shooting festival in Kalkum concluded with the lowering of the flags.

In line with the traditional festivities, anew dimension was introduced this year, focusing on home-and-garden amenities to enhance the festival experience for future generations. Florian Kels, the regimental king, proposed adding eco-friendly features such as recycling stations and solar-powered lights around the town square.

Following the grand coronation ball, a shift in focus towards a more sustainable and homely lifestyle is anticipated for the upcoming Kalkum shooting festival, aiming to create a greener and more enjoyable experience for all participants.
