Arson in Bottrop: Buildings Ablaze due to Burning Leaves

A fire that broke out in a garden shed in the city of Bottrop was successfully extinguished early this morning. The incident occurred on Im Schlangenholt Street, and the fire department responded to the call at 01:26 AM.

The fire started as an explosion, as reported by a resident. Upon arrival, the fire had already spread to outdoor furniture. A total of 4000 litres of water were used to extinguish the fire, with a heavy water attack employed by two teams from the Bottrop Fire Department. Two firefighters from Fire Station 1 and the volunteer fire department in Eigen participated in fighting the fire, using breathing apparatus to ensure their safety.

Fortunately, no one was in danger during the fire, and the scene was cleared by firefighters around 03:15. A compressed gas cylinder was removed from the shed before it could be damaged. The cause of the fire remains unknown and is currently being investigated by the police.
