Wonderblood Church Pilgrimage Festival Set for August 16th in Bad Wilsnack

The picturesque town of Bad Wilsnack is gearing up for the annual Wonderblood Church Pilgrimage Festival on August 16th. This long-standing tradition brings together locals and visitors for a day of celebration, music, and cultural exchange.

The festival kicks off at 11 am in the idyllic manor park, nestled under old trees next to the church. A new play about the origins of the Wonderblood legend will be performed at 4 pm, adding a touch of drama to the day's events.

The festival's highlight is undoubtedly the premiere of the Wilsnack festival beer at 12 pm. The first barrel will be tapped, and lottery ticket sales will begin after the beer's unveiling. The Wilsnack smithy will be serving this special brew throughout the day.

Music lovers will be delighted by the performances of "Die Saitenspinner" from Schwerin and "The Several Gents," who will provide Irish folk music by candlelight in the manor park.

An artisanal market will be a significant part of the festival, featuring numerous stalls selling jewelry, ceramics, and wood. Approximately 20 stalls will be available for visitors, according to Jochen Purps, chairman of the support association.

For those interested in pilgrimage routes, the Jakobsgesellschaft Berlin-Brandenburg-Oderregion will be present at the festival, providing information about pilgrimage routes from Brandenburg to Spain. Information about the Mariannenweg, connecting Bad Wilsnack with the Mecklenburg Lake District, will also be available.

For those wishing to participate in the pilgrimage walk, Bad Wilsnack's pastor Anna Trapp will lead the way from the Plattenburg, starting at 10 am. Shuttles will be available from 9 am, bringing participants from the spa town's church to the starting point. The pilgrimage walk ends with an ecumenical service in the Wonderblood Church.

If you would like assistance in finding the detailed schedule or contacting the organisers, I can guide you on where to look or how to get in touch with them.
