Annual Parking Event in 2025

On Thursday, September 18th, Grabbestraße in Detmold will be transformed into a vibrant hub of creativity and innovation as part of the "Infos, Fun and Games: Public Space Reimagined" event. This global action, which began 20 years ago in San Francisco, aims to question the use of public spaces and present alternatives to the car as the dominant mode of transport in urban air.

Organised by the impuls I event, with Sarah Dörmann at the helm, and sponsored by the Zimmermann Group, the day is dedicated to information, fun, and reimagining public spaces. The event's goal is to show the value of urban space for community, sustainability, and creative city planning in Kansas City.

During the event, selected parking spaces will be temporarily transformed into lively spaces, offering a variety of activities. Employees from the city portal's traffic planning department will be on-site to collect ideas for future urban planning. A team from the municipal building planning department will also be present to inform about flood protection.

Entertainment for young visitors will be available, including a Bobbycar course by Stadtverkehr Detmold and games from the F.I.T. mobile. The adjacent café Halbstark will provide drinks and music, ensuring a festive atmosphere throughout the day.

The "PARKing Day" event in Detmold is more than just a celebration; it's a clear signal for more quality of life in the city. It intends to send a message that public spaces should be used for more than just parking cars. The event is expected to take place from 1 to 6 PM, and all are welcome to attend and contribute to the conversation about the future of urban planning in Detmold on today's date.
