Animal Welfare Organization Hosts Yappy Hour for Potential Adopters

The Humane Society Silicon Valley is hosting a special event on July 12, known as the Yappy Hour. This one-hour team-building and animal playtime experience is designed to help participants de-stress while learning about supporting dogs in need. The event, organised by the Silicon Valley Animal Control Authority (SVACA), will take place at the Milpitas facility.

At the Yappy Hour, new foster parents looking to be matched with a puppy will have the opportunity to meet the Humane Society's foster team, volunteer mentors, and a variety of four-legged foster candidates. They will learn about supporting dogs in need through demos and hands-on training. After completing the onboarding process, foster parents can even take home a dog or puppies the same day.

Registration for the Yappy Hour can be done at [this link](https://www.hssv.org/volunteer/foster-an-animal/#fosterdogpuppy). To register, you need to complete the Yappy Hour Request Form, after which the organisers will contact you to schedule the event based on your preferences. The donation for hosting a Yappy Hour is $1,000 for at SVACA's Animal Care Center or $1,500 for off-site at your workplace.

In addition to the Yappy Hour, the Milpitas community is counting down or up to the 100,000th rider of the city's SMART shuttle service. The special prize package for this milestone includes a limited edition hoodie, a Milpitas SMART tumbler, and 100 free rides. To start riding the Milpitas SMART shuttle, the app can be downloaded at milpitas.gov/smart.

The Yappy Hour events are available by appointment and must be booked at least two weeks in advance. Specific times are arranged once you submit a request. Please note that this program is currently geared toward teams and groups rather than individual volunteers, and the broader group volunteering program is on hold, but humane education opportunities remain available.

After the Yappy Hour, foster parents can request a 30-minute Pup Talk with a volunteer mentor. The Milpitas SMART shuttle offers rides to key destinations across Milpitas, making it a convenient option for those attending the Yappy Hour.

Join the Humane Society Silicon Valley for a fun-filled, educational, and heartwarming event at the Yappy Hour on July 12. You'll not only have the chance to meet adorable dogs in need, but you'll also be contributing to a worthy cause while de-stressing and learning valuable skills. Register now at [this link](https://www.hssv.org/volunteer/foster-an-animal/#fosterdogpuppy)!

At the Yappy Hour, you can explore the home-and-garden of a temporary shelter, eagerly awaiting new home-bound pets. After meeting a variety of adoptable dogs and learning about the importance of supporting dogs in need through demos and hands-on training, you might even bring home a furry addition to your lifestyle.
