Almaty Plants 'Women's Alley' of 200 Trees on International Women's Day
Almaty, Kazakhstan's largest city, has inaugurated the first 'Women's Alley' in the Kokzhek microdistrict of the Jetysu district. The event, held on March 8 to celebrate International Women's Day, saw the planting of 200 chestnut and lilac saplings, with plans to expand to 4,500 trees.
The Women's Alley is a symbol of women's freedom, wisdom, beauty, and courage. It is part of Almaty's Green Economy Department's ambitious plan to plant 350,000 trees this year and 1 million over the next three years. The aim is to restore Almaty's status as a garden city. The event was attended by notable women leaders, including Natalia Livinskaya, Gulnara Kokobaeva, and Aigan Shaimukhambetova. Care for the planted trees, including watering, pruning, and fertilizing, is crucial for their survival and will be a key focus.
The Women's Alley in Almaty is more than just a planting of trees; it's a testament to the city's commitment to environmental restoration and the celebration of women's empowerment. With the support of local leaders and the community, the alley is set to grow and flourish, adding to Almaty's green spaces and honoring the strength and resilience of women.
